Cooling Systems Need Maintenance!
Many of today’s vehicles come with what is called long life coolant. But, long life doesn’t mean it is for the life of the car!
All new car manufacturers have a regular maintenance schedule for their vehicle’s cooling systems with the long life coolant.
The importance of this service is often overlooked. A poorly maintained cooling system will develop problems that will cost far more than the cost of proper maintenance.
A cooling system with old coolant will cause the radiator or heater core to become clogged or plugged.
- A clogged radiator will result in overheating during summer.
- A clogged heater core will result in no heat for you when cold weather hits.
Acid Attack
As coolant becomes contaminated it becomes acidic. This acid eats away at the aluminum parts in your cars engine. Water pumps, cylinder heads and many other items in your cars engine are made out of aluminum.
Where does the aluminum go as it is eaten away?
It gets deposited in the radiator and heater core. This will reduce your cars ability to cool in the summer and provide good heat in the winter.
